May 14, 2021 – May 28, 2021 Project Update

“Everything the Power of the World does is done in a circle… The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the same and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were … and so it is in everything where power moves.” –  Black Elk

Dear Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma Communities,

Compassionate Reconciliation Commission (CRC)

Following the Compassionate Reconciliation Commission Summit earlier this month, we are continuing to support the nine CRC Advisory Teams in choosing their representatives for the CRC. We are eagerly anticipating the formation of the core CRC, and our first CRC meeting to take place by the end of June.  A reminder that the CRC is the core structure that will help direct activities and initiatives towards broader engagement within the Compassionate Reconciliation Project for anyone wishing to be involved.   In the months to come, the Advisory Teams will be learning new skills in group facilitation, strengthening their membership by outreaching to others as needed, and beginning to develop engagement strategies to inform and involve members of the global Sangat in this work.  Over time, anyone wishing to participate in the Compassionate Reconciliation Project in some way will have an opportunity.

Community Circles

Our team is honored to participate in several upcoming events within the global community, including:

  • 3HO Summer Solstice gathering (June 19-20)
  • IKYTA Members gathering (July 7)
  • KRI Trainers’ Forum (July 8-9)
  • European Yoga Festival (July 30-August 1)

These conversations are places for community members to share with one another their experiences of the past year in the life of the community, to listen deeply and with compassion, and to begin to explore the implications of the current moment on the future of the community. Our work relies strongly on the use of Circle processes, which is a simple and ancient format for authentic communication. As the Compassionate Reconciliation Project unfolds, we anticipate that these types of facilitated conversations will be available to an increasing number of community members who wish to participate.  For those who wish to learn more about Circle Process and Circle Keeping, please check out practical guide we have created here.

Yours in kindness, compassion, and gratitude,
Catherine Bargen, Matthew Hartman, Cara Walsh, Aaron Lyons, and our extended Just Outcomes Team
