September 3, 2021 – September 17, 2021 Project Update

September 17, 2021

Dear Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma Communities,

We are happy to provide this biweekly update on the Compassionate Reconciliation Project.

Updates on the Compassionate Reconciliation Commission (CRC)
After a rigorous scheduling process including all the CRC reps and back-up (for more details on the composition of the CRC click here), the first meeting of the CRC is now scheduled for Sunday, September 26 and meetings will occur approximately twice per month.  We will be providing more information on the process as it unfolds!

Upcoming Events

Circle Facilitation, 2-day Training: As mentioned in our previous newsletter, we are excited to provide a 2-Day Training on Circle Facilitation.  Building on the reflections we’ve had about the use of Circles during challenging times (click here), we are eager to foster more leadership in how to conduct Circle Process for diverse uses across your communities, especially to support difficult dialogue.

The first session is coming up in just over one month, on October 22 and 23 (A Friday and Saturday).  Another session with different timing is being offered in December across four days.
This course is open for up to 50 people each, so please do not hesitate to register!

  • Friday– Saturday, October 22-23, 2021, 9:00 a.m. PT – 4:00 p.m. PT/4:00 p.m. GMT – 11 p.m. GMT. Click here to register.
  • Monday-Tuesday, December 6-7 & 13-14, 2021, 7:00 a.m. PT – 10:30 a.m. PT/2:00 p.m. GMT – 5:30 p.m. GMT. Click here to register

Introduction to Restorative Justice Workshop (4-hours): Have you been seeking to better understand what Restorative Justice is all about and how it applies to your communities?
We had our first 4-hour session on September 8 with a great group of 10 folks from around the globe.  Here were some of the comments:

“Just Outcomes showed us in this course again how well they understand what is needed in our context. It was incredibly rich to reflect together with people on opposite sides of the spectrum about what Restorative Justice could bring to those who suffered harm, those who caused harm and the community in which harm took place.”

“Every session I attend with the Just Outcomes team renews my hope that there is a way forward that includes all of us.”

“I would recommend the course to others.”

“I find the approach useful in so many areas of my life and so vital to deal with the controversy in our communities.”

“They did a really great job communicating about a complex subject and gave us some time to apply the principles. Excellent work!”

We would like to see a lot more than 10 participants at the next session (which will be a repeat of the September 8 session), so please consider signing up for the next offering in November! Registration is open and available to all those interested in the work of the CRP.  More sessions in more time zones will be available in 2022 as well.

  • Tuesday, November 16, 2021, 5:00 PM PT/12 AM GMT. Click here to register.

Q&A Sessions: For community members interested in learning more about the Compassionate Reconciliation Project, Just Outcomes is offering a series of informational Q & A sessions. These monthly sessions are held at different times of day to accommodate various time zones.  So far we have hosted calls on June 17th, July 5th, August 24th and September 16th. All Q & A Sessions are scheduled for 60-minutes. The following are options available this fall. We have enjoyed the interactions that have emerged on these calls. Come as often as you’d like!
